½ This Happy Breed Ð Download by ☆ Noël Coward Not one of my favourite plays by Coward Not enough humour and too much moralising.
This Happy Breed Covers Twenty Years In The Life Of The Frank And Ethel Bibbons And Their Children, From The End Of World War I To The Beginning Of World War II On One Level The Story Is The Chronicle Of A Middle Class Family They Haven T Done Well In The Years Between The Wars, But In The Face Of Another Conflict, Family Unity Spans The Chasm Between The Generations At Another Level, This Is The Story Of England, Torn At Times By The Conflicts Of Its Own Progress, But Quietly Firm In Its Historical Moments Of Crisis This is my second Noel Coward play and i didn t like this one either.

I was quite impressed with the film 20 years ago Perhaps it is better than the play, but I am inclined to think that a second look at this story informed by reading a lotCoward reveals this to be littlethan a well made play created to stir the home fires in the heart of all English people In other words, it now seems shallow, manipulative, and insincere I admire the skill with which this play was constructed, but now that I see the scaffolding, I am far less impressed.
